Revenge on medics: canceling police post at hospital and telling medics to “behave yourself”
June 23, 82 election committee members from the medical, public health and legal sectors released a joint petition to urge police not to defer medical operation or conduct illegal evidence gathering at hospitals. Junior Police Officers Association released a statement on June 25 to protest the joint petition and urge medical staff to “behave yourself” and not to insult police. The statement also said to request Hospital Authority for suspending all hospital police post if medical staff sees police obstructing their work. As of today (June 26), there was no police at post at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Yan Chai Hospital with only a notice posted “for emergency, please call 999.” Police confirmed there won’t be police stationing at the post but rather patrolling the surrounding of hospitals and check in at police post occasionally. Some LegCo members claimed police canceling hospital police post is an act of childishness and revenge.
