Arrested man gagged in Siu Sai Wa arms discovery case
Senior Superintendent of Organized Crime and Triad Bureau Steve Li Kwai-wah met reporters at midnight to say that three men were found on the hillside of Dragon Trail in Siu Sai Wan at 5:30 p.m. on March 26, and dangerous goods were found in a nearby stone house. The three men, aged between 21 and 23, were arrested on the spot. Li pointed out that the house was initially found to contain about 800 bullet casings, 200 warheads, and suspected gunpowder. It is believed that someone had made bullets out of these three items, which appeared to be for use in pistols and rifles. The case is tentatively listed for possession of an offensive weapon, unlicensed possession of a firearm or ammunition, and possession of a tool for an illegal purpose. Subsequently, in the early morning of March 27, police arrested a fourth man, known to be a friend or relative of the third suspect, at the apartment in Fullview Garden, Siu Sai Wan.
According to Lancelot Chan Wing-tai, Councillor of the Eastern District Council, Siu Sai Wan District, none of the three arrested persons were able to make any sound, and one of the residents asked whether the three arrested persons had been gagged by certain methods, and he nodded and admitted that this was a clear violation of the powers that the arrested persons should have.
